-느니만큼

-느니만큼: Inasmuch As — To That Degree, So…

Connective: inasmuch as / to the degree that… — the prior degree grounds the sequel.

Before this, make sure you know: -(으)니까 , -아요 / -어요

How to form it

When Form Example
Verb / adjective stem -느니만큼 / -(으)니만큼 바쁘느니만큼 / 중요하니만큼 / 다르느니만큼

-느니만큼 turns degree into grounds — inasmuch as / to that extent, so….

Busy to that degree → leave early. Important to that degree → be careful. The front is not a random reason; it is a scale that justifies the sequel.

Why this is hard

It neighbours spoken -니까 and extent patterns with 만큼. Learners hear every reason as -니까. Here the hinge is how much / to what degree, not only because.

Spelling variants (-느니만큼 / -(으)니만큼) also distract from the job.

What it does

바쁘느니만큼 일찍 출발해요.
중요하니만큼 다시 확인해요.
다르느니만큼 따로 설명해요.
급하니만큼 짧게 말해요.

Front = degree. Back = what that degree requires.

Forms

Stem + -느니만큼 / -(으)니만큼.

When not to use it

Do not use it for every soft spoken because — -으니까.

Do not confuse it with pure comparison as much as without the reason coat.

Do not force it into casual chat where -니까 already fits.

Neighbours — and why they differ

FormWhy it is not this slot
-으니까Broader spoken reason.
-는 만큼Extent neighbour — different packaging.
-으므로Formal reason — less ‘degree hinge’.

Ask: is the degree itself the grounds for the sequel? If yes, -느니만큼. If plain because, stay with -니까.

Do not confuse it with

Quick check

No sign-up, no score saved — just see if it stuck.

1. The file really matters — to that degree you want a re-check. Which line makes the importance itself the scale that grounds the sequel?

2. 바쁘다 + -느니만큼 — which form does the vowel stem take?

3. You are rushed and need a short answer — you want the urgency measured as the hinge, not a plain café 'because'. Which line fits?
