-거들랑①

-거들랑①: If / When That Holds — Connective Condition

Connective: if / when the preceding fact holds or comes true — condition linker.

Before this, make sure you know: -으면 , -아요 / -어요

How to form it

When Form Example
Verb / adjective stem -거들랑 오거들랑 / 알거들랑 / 바쁘거들랑
With sequel often imperative / advice -거들랑 + command / advice 오거들랑 말해 / 모르거들랑 물어

-거들랑① is a condition connective: if / when that is so — take the front as holding, then continue.

Curriculum sense: 조건. It links; it does not stop the sentence to lecture the listener. The ending job (②) is a different slot later in the book.

Why this is hard

Same letters appear as a sentence ending that informs (알거들랑 said alone). Learners mash both into one button. Here the stem opens a bridge to advice or a next act: 오거들랑 말해.

It also sits near -거든 and everyday -면. The coat is rarer and more pointed.

What it does

You set a condition, then tell what to do when it holds.

오거들랑 전화해.
모르거들랑 물어봐.
바쁘거들랑 나중에 해.
준비되거들랑 시작하자.

Front = condition. Back = often spoken next step.

Forms

Stem + -거들랑. Works with verbs and adjectives in the classroom core.

When not to use it

Do not use this slot for a lone ending that means you should know… — that is -거들랑② (later).

Do not replace every café -면 with -거들랑; it can sound stiff or old-fashioned.

Do not treat it as a noun particle.

Neighbours — and why they differ

FormWhy it is not this slot
-(으)면Everyday if — lighter, broader.
-거든Close condition neighbour; different shape.
-어야Only if / must — necessity flavour.

Ask: am I linking ‘if that holds’ into a sequel (often advice)? If yes, -거들랑①. If you are ending to inform, wait for ②.

Do not confuse it with
