Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to data when you visit jigjabi.com. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.

What we collect directly

You can read the site without an account. If you create one, we store the name you provide, your email address, a one-way hash of your password, and the date the account was created. We use this information to sign you in and provide account features; we do not store your plain password.

When you use account features, we store the lessons and word cards you save and any comments you post. A public comment shows your display name and comment, but not your email address. There is no newsletter signup form or contact form. If you email us, we retain the message as needed to reply and keep a record of the conversation.

If you comment without an account, we store the name and comment you provide, the page address, and the submission time. Only administrators can see it until approval; then your name and comment become public. To limit repeated submissions, we store a keyed hash of your connection address, not the address itself, and clear that hash when the comment is approved. Pending and rejected comments remain until an administrator deletes them. You can request deletion using the contact details below.

Essential account cookie

After you sign up or log in, we set an essential jabi_session cookie so the site can recognise your account. It is HTTP-only, is not used for advertising, and expires after 30 days unless you log out earlier. This cookie is necessary for the account features you request and does not depend on advertising or analytics consent.

Where account data is handled

Account data is handled by the services that host this site and its database, only as needed to operate and secure these features. We do not sell account data or use it to build advertising profiles.

Advertising

This site currently shows no advertising, and no advertising cookies are set. The section below describes what will happen if and when advertising is switched on; it is here so the terms are visible in advance, not because it is active now.

If advertising is enabled, it will be Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

We use Google Analytics to see which lessons are read and which are ignored. It records aggregate information such as pages viewed, approximate region and device type. It is not used to identify individual readers, and we do not combine it with any other data.

Readers in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Advertising and analytics scripts on this site do not load until consent is recorded — they are not fetched first and blocked later. Where required, Google’s consent notice (Privacy & Messaging) will ask first, and you can decline. Declining does not restrict access to any lesson on this site. Without consent, those scripts stay unloaded and their cookies are not set.

This shows what this browser currently has recorded. Changing it takes effect at once and nothing is loaded again until you say so.

The record lives in this browser only. On another browser or after clearing site data, nothing is loaded until you choose again.

Readers in California

We do not sell personal information. You may ask what information we hold about you and ask for it to be deleted by emailing the address below.

Keeping and deleting account data

Account information and saved items remain until you ask us to delete the account. You can remove individual saved items and comments through the site. To request a copy or deletion of your account and its associated data, email the address below from the email used for the account.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
