-는구먼: Oh, So It Is… — Fresh Realisation

Ending: oh, so it is… — noticing a newly realised fact.

Before this, make sure you know: -아요 / -어요 , -네 / -네요

How to form it

The speaker has just taken the fact in. It is not a blank report, and it is not archaic theatre by default.

Why this is hard

Discovery endings crowd: -네, -구나, -구만, -는구려. Learners hear 구 and stop listening. -는구먼’s job is noticing newly, often with a soft “so that’s how it is” colour.

What it does

비가 오는구먼.
벌써 가는구먼.
잘 하는구먼.
여기 있는구먼.

The ending says: I am registering this now.

가다 → 가는구먼
하다 → 하는구먼
좋다 → 좋구먼

When not to use it

Do not use it as a blank polite report — -아요/어요.

Do not swap it blindly with archaic -는구려.

Do not use it as a command.
