Why this is hard
It sits between -(으)려고 and -어도. Learners pick one neighbour and quit. This hinge says: I mean to / try to — and still….
What it does
가려도 길이 막혀요.
도와 주려도 시간이 없어요.
먹으려도 배가 안 고파요.
말하려도 말이 안 나와요.
Front = attempted act. Back = obstacle or contrast.
Forms
Batchim -으려도; vowel / ㄹ -려도.
먹다 → 먹으려도
가다 → 가려도
하다 → 하려도
When not to use it
Do not use it as bare purpose — -(으)려고.
Do not use it as soft even-if without attempt colour — -어도.
Do not use it as intention-as-if -으려면 alone.
