What With A and B… — Piling Pressures
Parallel connective -으랴 -으랴: what with doing A and doing B — piled burdens or busy scramble.
How to form it
| When | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Two verbs parallel | -
| After vowel /
-으랴 -으랴 piles pressures — what with A and B….
Not a calm checklist -고.
Why this is hard
English and covers -고, -면서, -는 데다가. Learners list calmly. -으랴 -으랴 paints scramble under load.
What it does
You show two (or more) demands pulling at once.
Forms
When not to use it
Do not use it for neutral friendly listing.
Do not use a single pole alone if the parallel load is the point.
Do not confuse it with rhetorical -으랴 ‘how could…?’ in other seats.
Neighbours — and why they differ
| Form | Why it is not this slot |
|---|---|
Neutral link. |
Simultaneous manner. |
Additive fact pile. |
Ask: am I showing competing burdens? If yes, -
