만 같아도

만 같아도: If Only It Were Even Like That

Even if only like N — concessive comparison with a wishful or ‘that alone would do’ colour.

Before this, make sure you know: 만 , 도 , 보다

How to form it

When Form Example
Noun + 만 같아도 N만 같아도 그 사람만 같아도 / 작년만 같아도

만 같아도 is a chunk, not a mystery single ending: 만 + 같다 + -아도.

Gloss: if only it were like — wishful comparison. 우리말샘 같다 covers likeness / not being different. 만 limits; -아도 is the concessive “even if.” Together: even if it were only like N… — often with a wistful or “that alone would do” follow-up.

The chunk in use

형만 같아도 좋겠어요.
작년만 같아도 괜찮겠어요.
그 정도만 같아도 충분해요.
네 마음만 같아도 힘이 나요.

Bank-unit small talk and everyday envy both use it: if things were only as good as….

Do not invent a lemma

There is no need to claim a forged dictionary headword 만같아도. Name the pieces:

만only / just that much
같다be like
-아도even if
형만 와도 돼요. only 만 + verb
형만 같아도 좋겠어요. likeness comparison chunk

English if only often pushes learners toward -면 alone. Here the likeness word 같다 is doing real work — keep it.

When the chunk fits

Reach for 만 같아도 when the wish is “even matching that standard would be enough,” not when you only need ordinary 만 limitation.

If the line is thin without a clear comparison target, leave the chunk alone and use simpler tools.

Do not confuse it with
