이나마
이나마: Even If Only — Settling for Less
Particle: accept something as insufficient but still better than nothing.
How to form it
| When | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Batchim noun / adverbial | N이나마 | 조금이나마 / 경험이나마 |
| Open syllable | N나마 | 잠시나마 / 오늘나마 |
이나마 / 나마 marks something as not enough, but still accepted: even if only… / at least this much…
Gloss: settling for something small. 우리말샘 이나마 「003」: after batchim nouns/adverbials — the condition is insufficient for a full claim, yet acknowledged as better than nothing. Classroom Korean uses 나마 after many open hosts (잠시나마). Separate adverb entries exist — this slot is the particle.
What it does — modest acceptance
조금이나마 도움이 됐으면 해요.
경험이나마 쌓고 싶어요.
잠깐이나마 쉴 수 있어서 좋아요.
위안이나마 됩니다.
Job talk: you are not claiming greatness — you are claiming a foothold.
