을랑
을랑: That One in Particular — Before Advice
Spoken particle: singles out the object as ‘that one in particular,’ often before advice or prohibition.
How to form it
| When | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Noun with batchim (object) | N을랑 | 일을랑 / 책을랑 / 생각을랑 |
| Related spoken shapes | N일랑 / Nㄹ랑 (family) | 돈일랑 / 걱정일랑 |
을랑 picks out that object in particular — often right before advice or a ban.
Dictionary: spoken particle that specially designates a target; on objects it roughly means (whatever else,) that one…, and advice often follows. Curriculum gloss: singled out, often before advice.
Why this is hard
It looks like a fancy 을, so learners either avoid it forever or paste it onto every object. The job is narrower: pointing plus a spoken coat, frequently steering into 마세요 / 하지 마.
Attachment also confuses: batchim nouns take 을랑; related shapes (일랑, ㄹ랑) show up in the same family. Do not invent free mid-stem forms.
What it does
You spotlight one object, then tell someone what to do (or not do) about it.
그런 일을랑 걱정 마세요.
이런 책을랑 아이들한테 주지 마세요.
돈을 빌릴 생각을랑 하지 마세요.
그 말을랑 다시 하지 마세요.
Plain 을 would mark the object. 을랑 adds that one especially — and the sequel is usually counsel.
Forms
N을랑 after batchim object nouns in the core pattern. Spoken relatives (일랑 etc.) appear in the same advice neighbourhood.
When not to use it
Do not swap every 을/를 for 을랑. Most objects want the plain particle 을/를.
Do not drop it into formal essays as decoration — it reads spoken.
Do not use it when you only mean also (도) or only (만).
Neighbours — and why they differ
| Form | Why it is not this slot |
|---|---|
| 을/를 | Plain object mark — no ‘especially that one’ coat. |
| 만 | Only — limit, not spoken spotlight-before-advice. |
| 도 | Also / even — inclusion. |
Ask: am I singling out this object, usually before advice? If yes, 을랑. If you only need an object mark, stay with 을/를.

Common questions
Dictionary?
Spoken particle that specially designates a target; often replaces 을 on objects with ‘(whatever else,) that one…’ — advice frequently follows.
을랑 vs 을랑은?
을랑은 stacks 은 for extra emphasis. Core classroom form here is 을랑.
When do I hear it?
Older spoken advice, drama lines, careful scolding: don’t even think of that one.
Essay writing?
Usually too spoken. Prefer plain 을/를 plus clear advice verbs.
